This website is about the Baloch people. Their culture, food, history struggles and more importantly "what is Balochmayar, the Balochi way" the Baloch Code of Honour. The everyday people, their idiosyncrasies, how they viewed their neighbours and rivals and in turn how were the Baloch viewed by their neighbouring people.
This website aims to be the repository of as much credible information on the Baloch as possible. This is a work in progress.
There will be no chest thumping of the "martial glory" of the Baloch. There's an old saying in the border districts of Sindh, "Talwar doesn't impress the Rajput and money the Baniya". The purpose is to show the Baloch society in Balochistan and all over the world in all its colours. Politics is not the purpose but it's impossible to keep it out of any people and their lives. Since the freedom struggle in Balochistan (Pakistan) and the brutal response of the security apparatus make news almost everyday, a separate Blog within the website is dedicated to that.
Past is always looked at nostalgically, the present wearily and the future cynically. It will be difficult for this website to escape that paradigm but it will attempt a balance.
Each post in the blog will be bite sized for a quick read in your mobile, tab or PC and the language contemporary - conversational. There will be three posts every week. Feel free to sign up for an alert for the blog posts or just follow us in Twitter @Baloch_Mayar
